Winter Damage/Decline on a Honeylocust Tree
Winter Damage/Decline on a Honeylocust Tree. Observing the decline of this Honeylocust tree I see that more than half of the tree failed to ever leaf out in the spring. This indicates winter damage. During a warm spell in the winter months this tree started to send up water and nutrients. When the next freeze occurred the water inside the tree freezes and expands killing the tree tissue.
Decline in 1 out of 4 Austrian Pines

Decline in 1 out of 4 Austrian Pines. At first glance it may appear to be pine wilt. Pine wilt kills a pine tree completely in the fall. With closer observation I see that this pine still has green/live growth. The steady decline over several years of one out of four of these pines is likely due to this Austrian Pine being planted too deep.
